Supporting Emotions and Social Behavior

Young children are learning to navigate a complex social world of friendships, family, relationships and interactions – as well as developing their own inner emotional landscape. As children explore and struggle with their emotions, we can see conflicts like pushing, fighting, arguing, biting, shouting and throwing. As adults we can find these conflicts difficult to manage.

In this session we explore children’s behaviors and the emotions that trigger them. We delve deep into personal, social and emotional development to gain understanding from the EYFS, . Participants are invited to reflect on their own feelings and experiences of children’s behavior. We then embark on tools and techniques that can be used when working with young children to resolve conflict, foster positive behavior and encourage strong social and emotional development.
